Ash Flooring

The open grain patterns in Ash flooring are similar to White Oak although the contrast in grain in plainsawn boards can be more pronounced. The  overall color effect is a uniquely softer brown and tan shade. It is slightly harder than Red Oak, its stability is in the same range, all nailing and finishing operations are easily performed, so it makes a very satisfactory floor. Ash does not accept stain readily, so only a slight deepening of color can be achieved during finishing. Ash wood is readily available in northern American forests.
